Sand waves is a wooden block made with the purpose of utilizing tools such as CNC machines and AI generated images from prompts.
The images above going from left to right show the usage of an AI generated image of a sand wave pattern. In the next image this pattern was used to create a height field in Rhino 3D. This height field was used to create a pattern that would be cut out of a one inch thick square sheet of plywood by a CNC machine, creating 5 square pieces with this sand wave pattern.
After each panel had been cutout I used a gloss finish on each side to make the layers of the plywood standout.
All five panels were mitered on each side to give the effect of continuous sand waves along each side. The bottom panel does not have the waves on it to allow for the box to sit flat.
